The brainchild of Dr. Ed Frazelle, RightChain’s President and CEO, and the founder of The Supply Chain Logistics Institute at Georgia Tech, RightChain™ Nodes, housed on the RightChain.ai platform, is RightChain’s AI-based supply chain network optimization system. RightChain™ Nodes has been instrumental in the optimization design of many of the world’s most significant supply chains including those at adidas, AT&T, BP, Coca-Cola, Dell, Disney, PriceSmart, Target, UPS, among many others. Automotive, apparel, retail, industrial, high tech, food, beverage, CPG, healthcare, …. Used by 3PLs, internal, ….

(a) “Solution Filters” allow you to construct customized optimization and simulation scenarios by selecting one or more data filters and elements of each to include/exclude from the optimization. Examples include selections from among various business units, product families, individual products, geographical regions, specific locations, facility types, date ranges, etc. Please make sure to select “Exclude Selection(s)” when excluding, otherwise RightChain.ai assumes the filter selections should be included. Also, please remember to select “Apply Filter” to have the chosen filters and selections applied to the optimization. Please also remember to re-optimize after your filters have been applied.

(b) Click “APPLY FILTER” to execute scenario filters.

a

(c) Click to reset all scenario filters.

b

c

(d) Selected filters appear here. Highlight from the dropdown and press “Enter” on the keyboard to include. Highlight and press “Delete” or backspace on the keyboard to remove. (e) A list of candidate filters, extracted from the core input data set appears in the dropdown below the “Select Data Filters” window.

d

e

(f) Each selected filter creates a window from which data ranges and/or specific data elements may be included or excluded from the optimization scenario.

f

g

(g) Please check “Exclude Selections” to exclude the selected data ranges and/or data elements for the filter; otherwise RightChain.ai assumes the selected data ranges and/or data elements are to included at the exclusion of other data ranges and/or elements.

(a) The “Optimization Controls” panel allows you to specify any and all constraints, cost factors, and scenario configurations impacting the solution. Four types of optimization controls are incorporated – “Location Controls”, “Design Parameters”, “Inventory Controls”, and “Transportation Cost Factors”.

(b) “Location Controls” permit the user to configure the scenario based upon (i) whether or not the transportation activity data set includes inbound, outbound, or both directional activities; (ii) the distance points of reference (e.g. ShipTo Lat/Lon, ShipFrom Lat/Lon); and (iii) the default country if one is required.

a

(c) “Design Parameters” permit the user to configure the optimization scenario based upon (i) the number of warehouses or distribution centers for consideration; (ii) the “weighting” factor for transportation activity analysis and cost computations; (iii) whether or not to use or require any “pre-defined” locations as candidates for optimization. “Pre-defined” locations may be selected from existing warehouse or DC locations, postal codes, and/or major logistics facilities such as airports or ocean ports. (d) “Inventory Parameters” permit the user to configure the inventory implications of the network optimization scenario requiring (i) the number of days of activity in the core data set, (ii) the current number of inventory days on hand in the network, (iii) the current storage density measured in units of inventory on hand per square foot of footprint, (iv) the percent of on-hand inventory that is safety stock as compared to any other bucket of inventory including lot size, cycle stock, and/or pipeline inventory, (v) the current number of warehouses or distribution centers in the network, and (vi) the current or average inventory investment. (e) “Transportation Cost Factors” permit the user to configure the transportation cost implications of the network optimization scenario including (i) the rate type – universal or rate table; (ii) the universal transportation rate; (iii) the rating unit of measure other than distance; and (iv) the distance unit of measure used for rating.

(a) MAPS are one type of visualization creatable via RightChain.ai optimization and insights. MAPS require geographic data in the core input data set. Those types of geographic data include latitudes, longitudes, postal codes, cities, states, and countries.

(b) “Map Background” allows users via dropdown menu to choose between Natural and Gray .

(c) “Driving Radius Displayed” allows users to display various driving radii including “Half Day”, “Same Day”, “1 Day”, and “2 Days” based upon driving distances and speeds.

(d) “Additional Plot Options” allow users to display user defined locations (included as an input file) and all mappable data points.

There are two main types of interaction with RightChain™ Nodes. Type 1 is via “optimization interaction”. Type 2 is via “input interaction”. RightChain™ Nodes works with two input data sets, one is the “Transportation Activity Data Set”; the other is the “Candidate Locations” data set. “Candidate Locations” are typically existing facility locations; but may include planned facility locations. RightChain™ Nodes allows user to specify, modify, and simulate supply chain network optimization scenarios. A scenario is comprised of “Scenario Filters”, “Optimization Parameters”, and “Plot Controls”.
